Neighbourhood Renewal Fund

NFR National Evaluation Report

The Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) was set up by the Government to enable the identified 88 most deprived areas in England to improve services through their Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) and to narrow the gap between these deprived areas and the rest of England.

The fund was intended to provide additional resources to improve mainstream services in the most deprived areas of Bolsover district, including contributing to the achievement of Floor Targets to narrow the gap between deprived areas and the rest of the country.

Bolsover District was the 30th most deprived area in the country at the programmes inception in 2001 and so received Neighbourhood Renewal Funding to the value of £11 million between 2001 and 2008.

During the course of the NRF programme, Bolsover Partnership adopted a commissioning approach to ensure that the allocation of NRF was focused on the priorities of the Partnership. Action groups each developed their own set of priorities through agreed Action Plans which ensured that NRF was able to meet key challenges set by government.  Projects and services were designed to fit Local Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy and Sustainable Community Strategy priorities.

More information on how the Partnership allocated its NRF and the resulting impact on floor targets can be found below.
