News! Green Spaces & Wellbeing Conference

Derbyshire Public Health Network is holding a Green Spaces and Wellbeing Conference which is aimed at anyone with an interest in health and greenspace, those working in local authorities, CCG's, primary care, social care, NHS providers, The voluntary sector, health and development workers, children's services, schools, outdoor educators, planners, etc.

The conference will enable participants to:

  • Stregnthen their knowledge of the physical and emotional health impacts of green spave
  • Gain understanding of ways to measure green space, the estimated amount of greenspace we have in Derbyshire and how accessible it is
  • Learn about the concept of nature connectedness and its links to health and wellbeing
  • Gain understanding of what works by providing an overview of evidence for effective actuin to promote use of greenspae and by showcasing current research projects
  • Take part in interactive workshops showcasing practical ways of engaging with greenspace in order to promote wellbeing

Have a Summer Adventure at Pleasley Vale Outdoor Activity Centre!

EVERY Weekday, Monday to Friday starting 31 July - 31 August (Excluding 28 August/Bank Holiday).

Supervised lunch break at 12pm (bring your own)

What To Wear:

Clothing suitable for physical outdoor activity (clothes you don't mind getting wet and dirty)

Please avoid jeans as these are cold to wear when wet

Please ensure you bring a full change of clothes including footwear and a towel, as we will be on the water for part of the adventure.

News! FREE Alcohol & Substance Misuse Training

Derbyshire Recovery Partnership is comprised of Derbyshire Alcohol Advice Service, Phoenix Futures and Intuitive Thinking Skills and have come together to provide support and training around Alcohol and Substance Misuse across Derbyshire County.

Full day training courses they deliver:

  • Alcohol awareness and brief interventions
  • Substance misuse awareness and brief interventions
  • Working with families affected by substance misuse
  • Working with high risk drinkers

News! Driver Training For Older Motorists

Motorists in Derbyshire are being invited to take advantage of training sessions aimed at keeping older drivers safe behind the wheel.

FREE Driving Safer For Longer information sessions are available for county motorists aged 65 and over.

The 90 minute sessions will offer drivers the change to update their driving knowledge and will cover eyesight, hearing, seatbelts, drink driving, hazard perception, vehicle adaptions and driving assessments.

Sessions are planned for:

News! Bright Side

Bright Side - supporting mental health through learning something new and developong confidence in a friendly environment.

Bright side are offering FREE courses available for anyone experiencing mental health difficulties, or emotional or physchological distress. 1 in 4 people go through this at some times in our lives and people can join Bright Side as an individual or as part of a support group.

Each programme is adapted to the interests of each group and can offer a stepping stone onto other activities. The courses are 12 hours long and deliver a rich variety of practical and hands on skills such as outdoor and creative activities, cookery and relaxation, all within a friendly setting.
